Rodney Forbes was one of the greatest and most consistentplayers to ever play at Boston State College. The forward made animmediate impact and was an integral part of the Warriors 23-5season in 1965-66, leading the squad with 17.3 points per game as afreshman and was later named a Little All-American selection, whilesinking 150 free throws, which ranks as the second-highest total inschool history. Forbes averaged 17.1 points to pace the team againas a sophomore, leading Boston State to the NAIA NationalChampionship Tournament, while landing on the All-Tournament teamas the Warriors finished the season with an 18-10 mark. The Reverenative was named a co-captain as a junior and led the team againaveraging a double-double of 20.3 points and 10.8 rebounds pergame, but it was his senior year where he would have his finestseason as Boston State's top scorer, netting 20.3 points per outingas the team finished with an 18-10 record. He put up 571 points fora then-school record, which still stands as the seventh-most for aplayer in a Warriors' uniform and drained .837 (145-185) of hisfree throws for the highest mark in school history. The two-timeco-captain finished his career with 1,962 points to break theMassachusetts college scoring mark, was a NESCAC All-Conferenceselection and also earned the right to play in the 14th AnnualNaismith Hall of Fame Senior All-Star Game, where he scored 14points. After graduating in 1969 with a four-year record of 71-35(.670) with Boston State, the Boston Celtics came calling, draftingForbes in the 11th round. Forbes is the Warriors' all-time careerleader with 520 career free throws made and ranks number two incareer games played (105), second in points and 721 field goalsmade and is fourth with 780 rebounds and a .756 (520-688) careerfree throw mark.
