Delores Booth joins the impressive contingent of UMass Bostonfemale track and field Hall of Famers. Booth starred as a sprinterfrom 1983-87 for the indoor and outdoor track and field squads andalso spent a season on the cross country team as a freshman. Shewas a member of the NCAA indoor championship teams of 1985, '86 and'87, while also helping the Beacons capture the 1986 outdoor crown.Booth helped get UMass Boston's successful run underway when shehelped the Beacons to their first trip to the NCAA championshipswith an appearance and a 52nd place finish in the 1984 outdoorcompetition and later contributed to a runner-up showing at the1987 outdoor meet and helped the squad to a fifth place finish inthe 1985 outdoor championships as well. Booth became anAll-American following the 1985-86 indoor season when she finishedseventh at the 1986 NCAA indoor championships in the 55 meters witha time of 7.38 and would go on to set the UMass Boston mark in the100 meters with a time of 12.20 at the Boston College Relays duringthe outdoor campaign. Booth earned All-ECAC accolades multipletimes and qualified for nationals every year she competed for theBeacons. The 1988 graduate racked up seven top-five finishes andplaced sixth in the 100 meters at the 1987 New England outdoorchampionships.
