"Bob Reardon is the greatest golfer in Boston State CollegeHistory". That's what legendary Boston State golf coach Ed Barryhad to say about Robert Reardon. For two years, Reardon was one ofthe best golfers on the collegiate level, winning 90% of hismatches, while earning team Most Valuable Player honors as a juniorand senior. He was the captain of the Warriors' first team in 1967and again in 1968. Reardon was recognized as the New England SmallCollege League's best golfer, but his success wasn't limited to thegreens. The 1969 BSC graduate was one of the institution's finestcitizens, being named to Who's Who in American Colleges andUniversities two years in a row, along with a two-year membershipin the Gold Torch Society and a one-year stint as the Sports Editorfor the Chalkdust student newspaper. He was a visible face withinthe student government as well, serving as vice-president andtreasurer of the Student Government Association and went on to earnboth the Boston State and Francis Ouimet Graduate Scholarship Awardin 1969. Reardon served the U.S. Army upon his graduation and wasthe golf champion at Fort Dix and later the 5th Naval District golfchamp in Norfolk, Virginia. After being named Enlisted Man of theYear by the Armed Forces Staff College, he went on to earn a lawdegree from Suffolk University in 1975. A member of theMassachusetts Bar Association since 1976, his love for the game ofgolf has never waned. He has played in many Massachusetts GolfAssociation championships and was a co-founder of the Edward T.Barry Golf Classic in 1986, where he has earned nine individualtitles. Reardon has also made a difference within the community asa member of the Board of Directors and is a foremost fundraiser forCatholic Charities and the Catholic Relief Services.
