There are four Boston State men's ice hockey players, a BostonState men's ice hockey coach and a UMass Boston men's ice hockeyteam that have been inducted into the UMass Boston Hall of Fame,but Bill Innocent becomes the first UMB player to receive thehonor. He is arguably, the best defenseman to ever pull on aBeacons' sweater. The blueliner is the school's all-time leaderamong defensemen in games (101), goals (15), assists (66) andpoints (81) and ranks seventh among all players in career assists,fourth in games played and is 20th in points. During his four-yearcareer, the Beacons put together a 60-39-7 (.599) mark, but it washis senior campaign where everything came together. Innocent ledUMass Boston with 30 assists, while helping it to a number sevennational ranking and a three-week stay in the national polls, whileposting a 15-10-0 mark for the season. He led the Beacons with aplus/minus mark of +23, assisted on game-winning goals overDivision I Army and at sixth-ranked Middlebury and was a three-timeECAC East/West Defenseman of the Week. The 1992 UMass Bostongraduate capped his season by being named an American HockeyCoaches Association All-American as well as an All-New England andECAC Second Team selection. Innocent was an integral part of UMassBoston's 1990-91 edition that finished 16-7-3, including aschool-best 14-5-3 mark in ECAC East/West play.
