Raymond O'Malley has been described as the best playmakingcenter in Boston State College Men's Ice Hockey history whilecentering one of the greatest lines in the program's era withfellow Hall of Famers Dick Leahy and Bob Russell. O'Malley wasnamed an All-New England skater in 1971 as well as the ECAC Playerof the Week in each of his final three campaigns. He skated in 65career games and tallied 89 points on 30 goals and 59 assists toaverage an impressive 1.4 points per game. Aside from hisplaymaking ability, the center was considered the best face-off manin the program's history, winning 92 percent of the face-offs hetook over his career. A member of the first line power play &penalty killing unit his entire career, O'Malley led the Warriorswith 30 points and 21 assists in 1970-71 while also leading theteam in assists with 18 in 1969-70. His 59 career helpers and eightcareer game-winning goals both rank third all-time in BSC history.He was also selected to the 1970 Codfish Bowl All-Tournament teambefore being chosen as one of only three Division II All-Stars inNew England to skate in the 1971 New England Division I All-Stargame that featured future Bruins in Dave Forbes and Dave Reece.O'Malley would go on to sign his own professional contract with theBruins in 1971 and eventually collaborated with Bobby Orr incompiling an instructional book called "Orr on Ice". Aside from afew high school head coaching and administrative positions,O'Malley would spend 34 years as a teacher, coach and administratorat John F. Parker Middle School in Taunton, MA before retiring.
