The early 1970s saw John Caccamo star for Boston State Collegeice hockey. The center was the Warriors' Most Valuable Player in1972-73 and 1974-75 and led them to an 18-11-2 mark and a berth inthe 1973 NAIA National Championship tournament in Thunder Bay,Ontario with a team-high 45 points, including 21 goals. The Belmontnative was the team's second-leading scorer as a junior and asenior with 51 and 35 points, respectively. He is Boston State'sfifth all-time leading scorer with 137 points, while ranking fourthwith 67 goals and sixth with 70 assists. He made his goals count,leading the BSC skaters in game-winning goals as a sophomore,junior and senior to give him 12 for his career, which is the mostby any player in Boston State history. Caccamo also had a knack forscoring in bunches, racking up four hat tricks to rank third amongWarriors players. His fine play earned him an honorable mentionspot on the weekly ECAC Team twice during his career. Following hisgraduation from Boston State in 1975, Caccamo playedsemi-professional hockey for six years and was an all-star in everyleague he played in, including stints in the USHL with Marquette,Michigan, the SWHL with Minot, North Dakota and the NHF withAmsterdam, Netherlands. He is also a member of the Belmont HighSchool Hall of Fame.
