One of the greatest ice hockey players in Boston State Collegeannals, Dick Leahy was named to the All-East and All-New Englandteams in 1968, while helping the Warriors to a fourth-place finishat the inaugural NAIA National Championship Hockey tournament. The1970 graduate averaged 1.5 points per game with 103 points in 68games, good for the fifth-highest scoring average in schoolhistory. He netted 45 goals and assisted on 58 other scores, whileplaying on the first line as a forward his entire career. Leahyalso saw action for the first-line power play and penalty killingunits for the length of his career. He was Boston State'ssecond-leading scorer in both 1968 and 1969 and was named the teamMost Valuable Player in 1969, while earning the first of two schoolSportsmanship Awards. No stranger to success, Leahy helped theWarriors to three straight Codfish Bowl titles and was selected tothe Codfish Bowl All-Tournament team in 1969. He was not only aSportsmanship Award recipient in 1970, but also achieved captainstatus for both the hockey and golf squads. Leahy enjoyed a verysuccessful golf career at Boston State as well, winning over 75% ofhis matches over three seasons and was named team Co-MVP in 1969and 1970.
