Barry founded the men's ice hockey program at Boston State in1962 and was the school's only head coach for the program,compiling a 210-247-5 record in 20 seasons. The legendary mentoralso began the Codfish Bowl, the second oldest college hockeyinvitational in the nation, and coached Boston State to sixtournament titles. His finest season as a coach was the 1965-66campaign that saw the Warriors finish with a perfect 20-0 record.After his coaching career, Barry became the UMass Boston Ice Rinkmanager and Development Coordinator from 1982-1985. Barry is alsoan accomplished golfer and started the golf program at BostonState. He also founded the UMass Boston Golf Classic, which hasserved as the main fundraiser for UMass Boston Athletics foryears.
