PROVIDENCE, R.I. (September 22, 2025) – UMass Boston sophomore libero Mary Matthews (Wilsonville, Ore.) has earned Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time in four weeks, following a standout performance across three matches and nine sets in a 3-0 week for the Beacons.

Matthews racked up 51 digs without a single recorded error (5.66 per set), highlighted by a 24-dig, four-assist effort against Mount Holyoke. She currently leads the conference in Defensive Player of the Week selections this season, continuing to establish herself as one of the league's top liberos.

UMass Boston volleyball returns to non-conference action on Wednesday, September 24, traveling to Nashua, N.H., for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with Rivier University.
