Boston, MA (Sep. 10, 2025) — The UMass Boston Beacons came out strong on Wednesday night, sweeping the Western New England Golden Bears 3-0 in a dominant performance at home.
The Beacons controlled the match from start to finish, posting 36 kills to WNE's 18, 12 service aces to the visitors' 3, and 34 assists compared to the Golden Bears' 16.
Kesmyn Alves led the way with 13 kills, while Adele Accelus doubled her career high with six kills in the early-season matchup. Audrey Cofield paced the offense with a match-high 22 assists and led all players with five service aces.
UMass Boston's most efficient hitting came in the second set, where the team hit at a .333 clip, finishing the match with an overall hitting percentage of .247. The Beacons also forced WNE into 22 errors and held them to just 18 kills, resulting in a negative team hitting percentage for the Golden Bears.
