Box Score

WELLESLEY, Mass. – In a rematch of last season's NCAA Regional Tournament quarterfinal match the host Blue of Wellesley College handed volleyball their first loss since early September by the final of 3-1 Friday evening at Keohane Sports Center.

With Friday's loss the Beacons record dropped to 13-4 on the season, while the Blue improved to 11-5 winning their fourth straight match.  The Beacons win-streak, which stands as the second-longest since their program best 22 consecutive victories set in 2011, officially came to an end at 12 straight wins.

Sophomore Elizabeth Glavan (Edina, Minn.) became just the fourth player in program history to reach 1,000 digs in the loss. The libero came-up with 15 digs and scored one ace. She joins former teammate Corrine Porter ('14) and Shannon Thompson ('12) and Megan MaCauley ('08) as the only players to belong to the 1,000 dig club.

In the opening game, the Beacons looked as if though they were continue keep their winning ways alive as they edged Wellesley with a 25-22 victory.  Unfortunately that early momentum did not last, as the Beacons offense struggled for the remainder of the contest.  In the second Wellesley notched a 25-18 decision, before taking game three 25-19.  In the final game Wellesley dominated hitting an impressive .385 to earn a 25-16 win.

Blair Boyer (Encinitas, Calif.) led the Beacons with 11 kills and a season-high .435 hitting percentage.  Senior Kirsten Morrison (North Reading, Mass.) and sophomore Julia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) each finished with seven kills respectively.

Pepper Baker (Tallahassee, Fla.) totaled 16 assists and had a pair of digs.  Fellow setter Emma Rocha (Boynton Beach, Fla.) tallied 11 helpers and dropped in one ace and had six digs in the loss.

For the Blue, Caitlin Laughlin recorded a team-high 10 kills on 23 attempts (.231 hitting percentage).  Maddie Kuh anchored Wellesley's offense with her 31 assists, to go along with seven digs.  Brooke Fieldman totaled five of her team's 10 aces, and scored nine kills and had nine digs and four block assists.

Volleyball returns to action on Tuesday when they host the University of Southern Maine at 6 p.m. in a Little East Conference match.
