BOSTON, MA (November 13, 2025) – The UMass Boston volleyball team wrapped up its season on Thursday night in the Little East Conference semifinals, putting together a competitive and spirited performance in a 3–0 battle with Plymouth State.
Despite the final score, the Beacons were right in the mix all evening, with the three sets decided by a combined seven points.
UMass Boston rallied late in the opening set, erasing an early deficit with five straight points to pull even at 22–22, before Plymouth State edged out a 25–23 win.
In the second set, the Beacons stayed within six points the entire way and kept the frame tight, ultimately falling 25–22 after another late push.
The third set saw UMass Boston jump out front and hold the lead early, but the Panthers put together a timely surge to close the match with an 11–6 run.
Sophomore Mary Denny (Chicago, Ill.) paced the offense in total kills, while sophomore setter Audrey Cofield (Ypsilanti, Mich.) dished out a team-high 31 assists. On the defensive end, sophomores Mary Matthews (Wilsonville, Ore.) and Addie Blomgren (Riverside, Ill.) anchored the effort with 23 digs and three blocks, respectively.
Fans can keep an eye out for the Little East Conference postseason awards, which will be announced following the conclusion of the 2025 tournament on Tuesday, November 18.
