Garceau All-New England Champion in 200m and 100m Hurdles following NEICAAA Championships

EASTON, MA. (May 9, 2026) – The UMass Boston track and field programs closed out the 2026 outdoor season at the NEICAAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held May 8-9 at Stonehill College. Senior Aryianna Garceau (Dalton, Mass.) headlined the Beacons' performance with a dominant double, capturing two individual titles to power the women's team to a 13th-place finish with 22 points. The men's team finished 20th with one point.

How It Happened:

  • Garceau was the unquestioned star of the meet for UMass Boston, sweeping the 100m hurdles and the 200 meters on the women's side. She opened her day by winning the 100m hurdles in 13.41 seconds — missing the meet record by 0.05 seconds, and just one one-hundredth of a second off her own NCAA DIII Record. She then anchored her day with a commanding victory in the 200m dash, crossing in 24.27 to claim her second gold medal of the meet. Her 20 combined points made her the backbone of UMass Boston's women's scoring.
  • Senior Shea Roche (Weymouth, Mass.) contributed two additional points for the women's team with a seventh-place finish in the 5000m run, crossing in 18:17.21 in a deep field. Senior Jacqueline Earner (Abington, Mass.) also competed in the 800m run, finishing 28th in 2:30.40.
  • On the men's side, the 4x100m relay team of Justin Riley (Weymouth, Mass.), Liam Feliz Montilla (Boston, Mass.), Alex Martins (Malden, Mass.), and Melvin Wiltshire (Boston, Mass.) earned the Beacons' lone point with an eighth-place finish, clocking 42.73 seconds. Feliz also competed as an individual in the high jump, clearing 1.86m (6-01.25) to tie for ninth place, just missing the scoring threshold. Riley ran the 200m dash individually as well, finishing 19th in 22.33.

By the Numbers:

  • Aryianna Garceau's 20 points accounted for nearly all of UMass Boston's women's team score of 22, making her one of the most productive individual performers in the meet.
  • The women's team finished 13th out of 23 programs scored, with Rhode Island (186.5 pts) and Southern Connecticut State (109 pts) leading the field.
  • The men's team finished 20th out of 20 programs scored, with Rhode Island (231 pts) and Southern Connecticut State (153 pts) taking the top two spots on that side as well.

What's Next:
