Beacons Deliver Strong Showing at Little East Championships

Plymouth, NH (February 21, 2026) The UMass Boston track and field teams turned in a strong, record-setting performance at the Little East Conference Indoor Championships, highlighted by conference titles, meet and facility records, and numerous personal-best efforts. The men finished fifth overall with 64 points, while the women tied for sixth with 58 points. 

On the men's side, the Beacons were powered by standout performances in the hurdles and sprints. Junior Justin Riley (Weymouth, Mass.) led the way, winning the 60m hurdles in 8.56 after posting the top prelim time of 8.57. First-year Nahim Laguerre (Malden, Mass.) placed fourth in the prelims (8.81) and fifth in the final (8.80), earning personal records in both rounds. First-year Omar Mishal (Peabody, Mass.) also recorded PRs in both races, clocking 8.94 in the prelims and 8.88 in the final to finish sixth overall. 

In the short sprints, first-year Liam Feliz Montilla (Boston, Mass.) ran 7.29 in the 60m, while senior Melvin Wiltshire (Boston, Mass.) scored with a sixth-place finish in the 200m (23.04). Riley added to his point total in the 400m, taking third in 51.53, and sophomore Elaijah Monteiro (New Bedford, Mass.) followed in 53.46. 

The Beacons shined in the jumps, highlighted by sophomore Alex Huynh tying for second in the high jump (1.92m), with Feliz placing fourth at the same height. Huynh also secured second in the long jump with a leap of 6.58m to score eight points. In the triple jump, Feliz recorded a personal-best 12.12m, while first-year Jailen Butler (Boston, Mass.) posted marks of 5.43m in the long jump and a PR 11.91m in the triple jump. 

In the throws, senior Neville Richards (Wellington, FL.) notched a personal-best 15.25m in the weight throw and added an 11.78m mark in the shot put. Senior Olutemi Alofe (Roslindale, Mass.) threw 13.24m in the weight throw and placed fifth in the shot put with a PR toss of 13.95m. First-year Areno Saint-Victor Fabian (Peabody, Mass.) recorded 13.76m in the weight throw and took sixth in the shot put (13.73m), while first year Ariel Arcena (Chelsea, Mass.) added an 11.79m mark in the shot put. 

The men's 4x800m relay team of Vincent Caruso (Scarborough, ME.), Micah Groff (Beverly, Mass.), Daniel Thomas (Milton, Mass.), and Sky Roberts-Clarke (Boston, Mass.) placed seventh in 9:01.09 to earn two points. The 4x400m relay of Riley, Wiltshire, Mishal, and Monteiro closed out the meet with a third-place, season-best performance of 3:29.70. 

The women's team was led by a historic performance from senior Aryianna Garceau (Dalton, Mass.). Garceau set meet and facility records in the 60m hurdles, running 8.56 in the prelims and 8.45 in the final to claim the conference title. She also dominated the sprints, winning the 60m in 7.71 (a PR and facility record) after matching that time in the prelims, and capturing the 200m title in a facility-record 25.11. Garceau added a third-place finish in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 5.44m. 

Senior Shea Roche (Weymouth, Mass.) delivered another highlight for the Beacons, winning the 5,000m in18:09.31 to set a new meet record. In the 800m, senior Jacqueline Earner (Abington, Mass.) placed third in a season-best 2:24.69, while first-year Amelia Caruso (Scarborough, ME.) ran 1:03.82 in the 400m. 

In the throws, senior Isadora Teodoro Marques (Billerica, Mass.) placed eighth in the weight throw with a 12.85m mark and added 9.75m in the shot put. Junior Agnessa Lysenko (Boston, mass.) recorded 12.39m in the weight throw, while junior Katie Tuohy (Groton, CT.) matched that distance in the weight throw and posted a personal-best 10.96m in the shot put. 

The women's 4x800m relay of Molly Hilditch (Auburn, Mass.), Roche, Kylee Browning (Attleboro, Mass), and Earner finished sixth in 10:37.93 to score three points. The 4x400m relay team of Caruso, Nimatu Johnson (Lowell, Mass.), Kiyani Liriano, and Mariah Romaine (Plymouth, Mass.) placed seventh in 4:30.69, adding two more points to the team total. 

For select qualifiers, the Beacons will return to action Friday, February 27 through Sunday, March 1 at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships, hosted at both Tufts University and the TRACK at New Balance in Boston. The meet will feature the top competitors from across the region competing for spots in the national championships. For those who do not qualify to continue into the postseason, competition will resume after spring break with the start of the outdoor season.
