PROVIDENCE, RI (March 30, 2026) – Following UMass Boston's outdoor season opener at the UMass Flagship Opener, junior Aryianna Garceau (Dalton, Mass.) and first-year Omar Mishal (Peabody, Mass.) have earned Little East Conference weekly honors — Garceau as Women's Co-Track Athlete of the Week and Mishal as Men's Track Rookie of the Week.
In her first collegiate 400m hurdles race, Garceau made an immediate impact on the national rankings. She crossed the finish line in 1:02.94, taking first overall at the meet while ranking first in the LEC and fifth nationally.
Mishal also competed in the 400m hurdles for the first time at the collegiate level, finishing second overall at the UMass Flagship Opener in 55.99 — a new UMass Boston record — and placing fourth in the LEC and ninth among Division III New England competitors.
The Beacons look to build on a strong opener, with Garceau heading to the Texas Relays this week while the rest of the team travels west on I-90 to the Springfield College Classic.
