Box Score PLYMOUTH, N.H. – On Saturday, Feb. 14, UMass Boston Women's Basketball delivered a comprehensive 69-46 victory over Little East Conference foe Plymouth State at Foley Gymnasium, powered by a career outing from Madison Haggett and a strong all-around team effort. The Beacons improved their record to 12-9 with the decisive conference win.
The Beacons established control early, taking a 19-16 lead after the first quarter thanks to efficient offense and disciplined defense. UMass Boston broke the game open in the second quarter with a dominant 19-6 run, heading into halftime with a commanding 38-22 advantage. The defensive unit set the tone during this surge, limiting Plymouth State to just six points in the quarter.
UMass Boston maintained its lead throughout the second half, responding to any Plymouth State attempts at a rally with timely scoring and continued defensive pressure. The Beacons shot a blistering 51 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from three-point range, while holding the Panthers to just 22.4 percent shooting overall and 15.6 percent from beyond the arc. Kayla Jackson provided the final basket with under a minute to play, sealing the 69-46 triumph.
UMass Boston's ability to control the glass and keep their opponent's offense in check was a key storyline, as the team led for more than 36 minutes and saw their bench outscore Plymouth State's reserves 18-8.
Leading the charge was Madison Haggett (Londonderry, N.H.), who poured in a game-high 27 points on 9-for-20 shooting, including 5-for-9 from three-point range, and added four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 36 minutes of play. Sabanna Berrios (Providence, R.I.) anchored the team on the boards with 11 rebounds and distributed a game-high five assists.
Hialeah Turner-Foster (Mashpee, Mass.) added 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting and was 5-for-7 at the free-throw line, while Ashleigh Lagor (Millbury, Mass.) chipped in 11 points and contributed defensively with one steal. Sibayla Jensen (Portland, Ore.) protected the rim with a block in a balanced team effort.
