CASTLETON, Vt. (February 11, 2026) – UMass Boston women's basketball (13-120, 7-7 LEC) delivered a critical Little East Conference victory, defeating Vermont State University Castleton (5-17, 1-12) 74-66 on the road. The Beacons never trailed after a strong first quarter and secured their 12th win of the season, powered by a new career-high 25 points from
Ashleigh Lagor (Millbury, Mass.).
UMass Boston set the tone early, racing out to a 21-13 edge by the end of the opening quarter thanks to stifling defense and efficient offense. The Beacons maintained a steady advantage throughout the first half, taking a 35-28 lead into the locker room. VTSU Castleton made a push in the third quarter, cutting into the margin with a 22-point frame, but UMass Boston weathered the surge and still held a 58-50 advantage heading into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, timely baskets and clutch free throws helped the Beacons seal the win. Key moments included an early three-pointer from Lagor and a driving layup from Sibayla Jensen (Portland, Ore.) that extended the lead to eight. UMass Boston protected its advantage with strong defense, generating 24 points off turnovers and dominating the paint with a 46-30 scoring advantage inside. The Beacons held the lead for more than 37 minutes of the contest and finished the night shooting 80 percent from the free-throw line.
Lagor paced UMass Boston with a game-high 25 points, connecting on nine of 13 shots from the field and converting six-of-seven free throws. Lagor also contributed six rebounds and played a central role in the Beacons' offensive efficiency.
Sabanna Berrios (Providence, R.I.) anchored the defense and led all players with 12 rebounds, adding six points, three assists, three steals and a block while logging 35 minutes. Jordis Tautalatasi (Springfield, Mass.) provided a spark off the bench, scoring 12 points on 6-for-11 shooting and grabbing three rebounds in 28 minutes of action.
