Women's Basketball Drops LEC Senior Day Battle to UMass Dartmouth, 69-62

BOSTON, Mass. (Feb. 18, 2026) --- UMass Boston women's basketball came up short in a tightly contested Little East Conference regular season finale, falling 69-62 to UMass Dartmouth at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium. The Beacons honored their four seniors in a pregame ceremony, but could not overcome the early deficit, closing the regular season with a 14-11 record.

The Beacons found themselves in an early battle, trailing by just four at the end of the first quarter. UMass Dartmouth used a strong second quarter to open up a double-digit lead, taking advantage of UMass Boston's 25 turnovers throughout the afternoon. Despite shooting 51 percent from the field and dominating the paint with a 38-26 scoring edge inside, the Beacons could not close the gap as the Corsairs converted 23 free throws and capitalized on second-chance opportunities.

UMass Boston cut the deficit to single digits in the third, and late in the fourth quarter Madison Haggett pulled the Beacons within five with a clutch jumper. However, UMass Dartmouth responded with timely baskets and crucial free throws from Melanie DeMeo down the stretch. Paint points kept the Beacons within reach, but the Corsairs' ability to force takeaways and convert at the line proved decisive.

On a day dedicated to the program's seniors, several Beacons delivered standout performances. Madison Haggett (Londonderry, N.H.) led all scorers with 21 points, shooting 9-for-16 and adding three rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Ashleigh Lagor (Millbury, Mass.) chipped in 12 points, five rebounds and two steals. Sibayla Jensen (Portland, Ore.) directed the offense with eight points, five assists and four rebounds, while Sabanna Berrios (Providence, R.I.) anchored the defense and controlled the glass with a game-high 12 rebounds and eight points.
