BOSTON, MA (February 7, 2026) -- UMass Boston women's basketball (12-10, 6-7 LEC) fell 64-52 to Rhode Island College (17-5, 11-2 LEC) on Saturday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium, despite a 20-point effort from Ashleigh Lagor (Millbury, Mass.).
The game opened with a tightly contested first quarter as the Beacons and Anchorwomen traded baskets before Rhode Island College edged ahead 16-13. UMass Boston's offense struggled to gain momentum in the second period, and the visitors extended their lead to 25-19 by halftime. The Beacons briefly pulled ahead at 30-29 midway through the third quarter, but Rhode Island College responded with a decisive run to close the period up 44-33.
A critical sequence early in the fourth saw Rhode Island College stretch the margin to 15 points, their largest of the game, following a timely three-pointer by Jaina Yekelchik. UMass Boston continued to battle on defense but could not find enough consistent offense to close the gap, finishing the afternoon shooting 26.2 percent from the field.
Lagor anchored UMass Boston's scoring, adding 8 rebounds in her 31 minutes on the floor. Jordis Tautalatasi (Springfield, Mass.) contributed 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals to keep the Beacons within reach. Madison Haggett (Londonderry, NH) provided a defensive spark with 4 steals in 34 minutes of play.
Rhode Island College's size and defense set the tone, as the Anchorwomen finished with 41 rebounds, 6 blocks and 10 steals. Abby Wager led Rhode Island with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Meagan Schuermann recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
