Women's Basketball Season Ends in LEC Quarterfinal Loss to UMass Dartmouth, 80-70

BOSTON, Mass. – On Thursday, Feb. 26, UMass Boston women's basketball (14-12, 8-8 LEC) saw its 2025-26 campaign come to a close with an 80-70 loss to UMass Dartmouth (11-15, 7-9 LEC) in the Little East Conference Quarterfinals at the Clark Athletic Center. The Beacons finished the season with a 14-12 record after the high-stakes tournament defeat on their home floor.

The postseason matchup delivered a back-and-forth battle with both offenses executing efficiently in the opening half. UMass Boston trailed narrowly after the first quarter, putting up 17 points before UMass Dartmouth responded with a surge to close the half ahead. The Beacons stayed within striking distance throughout the second and third periods, boosted by balanced scoring, but struggled to keep pace as the Corsairs capitalized on key turnovers down the stretch.

UMass Boston made several pushes in the second half, looking to erase the deficit and extend its postseason campaign. The Beacons connected on three of nine attempts from beyond the arc and distributed the ball well, totaling 15 assists as a team. Ultimately, the Corsairs were able to seal the win at the free-throw line and on the glass, holding off UMass Boston's final rally in the closing minutes.

Sophomore guard Madison Haggett (Londonderry, N.H.) and junior forward Sabanna Berrios (Providence, R.I.) paced the Beacons with 14 points apiece. Haggett also knocked down three three-pointers and grabbed four rebounds, while Berrios added five boards, three assists and two steals. Sophomore forward Ashleigh Lagor (Millbury, Mass.) contributed 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting, and junior guard Hialeah Turner-Foster (Mashpee, Mass.) added 13 points and two steals. Senior guard Sibayla Jensen (Portland, Ore.) filled the stat sheet with six points, five rebounds, four assists and five steals in her final collegiate contest.

UMass Boston closes the 2025-26 campaign at 14-12, with the postseason loss marking the end of its run in the Little East Conference Tournament.
