Amherst, MA. (April 5, 2025) – The Beacons men's and women's track and field teams sent 17 student-athletes to the UMass Amherst Flagship Opener, an elite invitational featuring several NCAA Division I and Division III programs. The meet provided an opportunity for the Beacons to test their mettle against top competition.
Women's Team: NTS
The women's team sent nine of their best athletes across various events.

Jhenelle Evans (Milton, Mass.) took 13th overall in the 100m dash with a time of 13.04 seconds out of 27 competitors. Notably, she finished ahead of two Holy Cross runners (NCAA Division I), representing the sprinting core well.

Jacqueline Earner (Abington, Mass.) returned to action in the 800m dash, securing a top-ten finish with a time of 2:26.08, placing 10th out of 21 competitors.

In the field events, Hialeah Turner-Foster (Mashpee, Mass.) competed in both the high jump and long jump. She placed 11th in a field of 21 in the high jump with a clearance of 1.48m. Dorinda Okorji (Maynard, Mass.) led the duo in the long jump with a best mark of 4.80m, while Turner-Foster recorded a 4.67m jump.

Alessandra Albano (Haverhill, Mass.) led a trio of Beacons in the discus throw with a best of 24.31m. She finished ahead of Delaney Sartwell (East Bridgewater, Mass.), who threw 21.57m, and Isadora Teodoro Marques (Billerica, Mass.), who recorded a mark of 18.78m.

Katie Tuohy (Groton, Conn.) and Abigail Schell (Boston, Mass.) represented the Beacons in the hammer throw. Tuohy set a new personal best with a 35.70m throw, finishing 16th overall.
Men's Team: NTS
The men's team sent eight athletes.

Derrick Touba (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Alex Martins (Malden, Mass.) represented the Beacons in the 100m dash. Touba finished in the top 12 with a time of 11.49 seconds, winning section three.

Elaijah Monterio (New Bedford, Mass.) competed in the 200m dash.

Justin Riley (Weymouth, Mass.) returned to the 110m hurdles, finishing third in section three with a time of 16.64 seconds, the fastest time for a Division III athlete in the heat, just behind two Holy Cross (NCAA Division I) competitors.

The 4x100m relay team, consisting of Touba, Riley, Martins, and Melvin Wiltshire (Boston, Mass.), posted a season-opening finish of 43.99 seconds for their first relay submission of the year.

Olutemi Alofe and Arthur Grant (Walpole, Mass.) competed in the men's shot put, with Alofe leading the Beacons with a mark of 11.96m.

Neville Richards (Wellington, Fla.) and Ramez Guiruis (Upton, Mass.) represented the Beacons in the men's discus throw. Richards recorded a new personal best of 32.02m, while Guirguis threw for 31.02m.

Richards was the lone Beacon to compete in the men's hammer throw, where he placed second in his flight with a throw of 44.56m.

Brady Poirier (Acushnet, Mass.) completed the field events for the Beacons, recording a 37.33m throw in the men's javelin.

Following a successful split weekend at Regis College and UMass Amherst, the Beacons will continue their progression at the Jerry Gravel Westfield State University Invitational in Westfield, MA, next weekend on Saturday, April 12. Full meet information will follow.
