Women’s Basketball Plays at #23 UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday

BOSTON, MA (February 11, 2025) – The Beacons' women's basketball team (8-14, 5-8 Little East Conference) will head to North Dartmouth, MA, with three games remaining in the 2024-25 LEC Regular Season against the nation's 23rd ranked squad (d3hoops.com), the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs (19-2, 12-0 LEC).

The Beacons have won eight games this season, most recently against the Western Connecticut State Wolves (60-44) on January 29th. Their most significant wins of the season came against the Wolves, the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors (69-51), at Fitchburg State (95-54), and in the Hunter Tip-Off Tournament against the Saint Elizabeth University Eagles (84-55). On the road in 2024-25, the Beacons are 4-6, with their most recent road win against the Warriors. As a unit, the Beacons score 58 points per game, led by sophomore forward Sabanna Berrios (Providence, R.I.) with 267 points in 20 games (13.4 PPG). Berrios has shined in her inaugural season with the Beacons, recording nine double-doubles, including an eight-of-nine-game stretch where she tallied more than 14+ points and 11+ rebounds. In 21 games, she leads the team on the glass with 171 total rebounds(52 offensive, 119 defensive, 8.6 RPG). Sophomore Vanessa Bucha (Aschnuet, Mass.) is the team's leading sharpshooter, with a team-high 24 makes from downtown this season. Junior captain Sibayla Jensen (Portland, Ore.) leads the team in total assists with 61. Junior guard Tatiannah Fevry (Dracut, Mass.) is one of the conference's leading perimeter defenders with a third-best 49 total steals in 22 games (fourth-best 2.2 SPG) to support an 8.2 PPG average. Sophomore Hialeah Turner-Foster (Mashpee, Mass.) owns the second highest PPG average for the Beacons, scoring 8.8 PPG in her first season of collegiate hoops.

The Corsairs have taken the LEC by storm this season with a flawless 12-0 conference record. Offensively, they are scoring 78.5 PPG on a LEC-high 15.48 assists per game, led by graduate forward Carly Whiteside with 14.1 PPG and a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game. UMass Dartmouth average 42.1 rebounds, 9.7 steals and 3.5 blocks per game.
