BOSTON, MA (May 17, 2024) – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced All-Region honors for the 2024 outdoor regular season. Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, and each member of a top-3 ranked relay team. The beacons add two the the USTFCCCA All-Region team with
Dorinda Okorji, and
Aryianna Garceau each receiving honors.
Dorinda Okorji – Long Jump
Okorji earned All-Region in the women's long jump following her impeccable season on the long jump runway. She solidified her All-Region status at the New England Division III Outdoor Championships on May 4
th with a fifth-place finish by a mark of 5.35m (17' 6.75"), a new personal record for the Beacons two-way star. With her fifth-place finish in the women's long jump, Okorji took sixth place at the DIII NE Championships with a new personal record of 12.39s.
Aryianna Garceau – 100m Hurdles
Garceau took second at the DIII NE Championships with a wind-aided (3.9) 13.82 finish. Garceau's silver medal on the day solidified her status for All-Region in the event. Garceau's 13.82 has her ranked fifth in the nation and she will look to parlay All-Region into All-American on May 24 and 25 from the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium at the DIII NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Both Garceau and Okorji shined bright all season and led the UMass Boston women's track and field team to a third-place finish at the Little East Conference Outdoor Championships. The program's best finish in the conference since 2018.
