BOSTON, MA (February 3, 2024)—The UMass Boston men's track and field program took the weekend to compete at the Cupid Challenge from Tufts University, as the team continues to progress towards their individual goals set for the season.
SPRINTS:
First-year
Hugo Dos Santos took to the blocks for the 60m dash as the lone Beacon, as he registered a new personal best of 7.73. Dos Santos also took to the 200m dash along with first-years
Elmani Debarros, and
Brady Poirier, with Dos Santos crossing first for the Beacons in 24.79, he was followed by Debarros in 25.66, and Poirier in 29.04.
First-year
Nouradine Sheck was the lone Beacon in the 400m dash, as he finished in 62.41 for UMass Boston.
DISTANCE:
The 600m was held down once again by junior
Cody Witthun, as his 1:26.00 finish was enough to earn him 10
th out of a 22-man field. Witthun was supported by sophomore
Isaiah Stressman, with Stressman closing his 600m dash in 1:32.39.
In the men's mile, Beacons' first-years
Robert Cannon and Sebastian Bien Aime represent UMass Boston, with Cannon putting together a 4:55.82 finish first for the Beacs, followed by Bien Amie who finished in 6:38.31.
JUMPS:
From the long jump runway, Debarros was joined by first-year
Prabhdeep Bassan, along with junior
Mocktar Seck. Bassan registered the best mark on the day, as he registered a 5.29m (17' 4.25") mark, followed by Seck who registered a 4.29m (14' 1") best.
In the triple jump, Bassan also took the runway for a best jump of 11.05m (36' 3").
THROWS:
Juniors
Olutemi Alofe and Sam Grant each took to the thrower's circle for the Beacons, with Alofe registering a best of 10.76m (35' 3.75"), followed by Grant who registered a best of 9.39m (30' 9.75").
