BOSTON, MA (October 11, 2024) – The Beacons women's soccer team will travel north to Keene, N.H., on Saturday for a Little East Conference matchup against the Owls of Keene State.
Previously
- Overall, the Beacons are 9-17-4 against the Owls through over 27 years, dating back to 1997. The inaugural matchup saw the Owls overtake the Beacons 4-0. The last time the Beacons fell to Keene State was in 2017 by a one-goal margin. Since 2017, the Beacons have gone 5-0-1, with the most recent meeting resulting in a 0-0 draw in 2023.
This Season
- This season, the Beacons are 8-2-3 (3-0 LEC), with their most significant wins coming over Plymouth State (8-3), UMass Dartmouth (3-0), and Curry College (3-2). The Beacs have only fallen twice this year to Roger Williams (1-0) and, most recently, the University of New England (4-1). On the road, the Beacons are 4-2-2. In nine games started and played, primary goalkeeper junior Julia Cote (Baldwinville, Mass.) has gone an undefeated 6-0-2, as she has registered a .816 save percentage against 93 shots faced (40 saves), allowing only nine goals this season. The offense has seen a splash of contributors, with first-year Sofia Schallmo (Norwood, Mass.) leading the charge for UMass Boston with 10 goals and six assists through 10 games played. Schallmo currently stands second in the LEC for goals and assists and leads the conference in season points with 26. First-years Daniella Celotto (Prospect, Conn.) and Lucinda Cotter (North Easton, Mass.) have been maestros in the midfield for UMass Boston, with both first years registering three assists on the season, tied for second on the team behind Schallmo.
- For Keene State this season, the Owls have gone 4-6-2 (1-2-1 LEC) with big wins over New England College (7-0), UMass Dartmouth (3-0), and Framingham State (4-0). On their home turf, the Owls are 4-3-1. The Owls' primary keeper, junior Riley Andriski, has registered 70 saves against 152 shots for a .814 save percentage and 1.33 goals-against average. She has allowed 16 goals this season and has gone 5-6-2 through 13 games started. Sophomore midfielder #14 Elizebeth Tschudin is the leading scorer with four goals, and two assists in 926 minutes on the pitch. Sophomore midfielder #27 Emily O'Connell leads the team in assists with five, four of which came from the Owls' previous matchup against Framingham State.
