NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA (October 29, 2025) – Needing three crucial points to clinch a spot in the 2025 Little East Conference postseason tournament, the UMass Boston women's soccer team (8-7-3, 4-3-1 LEC) delivered when it mattered most — earning a commanding 3-0 road victory over UMass Dartmouth (7-8-3, 2-5-1 LEC) to secure the LEC's sixth seed. With the win, the Beacons advance to their eighth consecutive postseason appearance under head coach Amy Zombeck.
After a scoreless first half in which both sides traded offensive pressure, UMass Boston began to find their rhythm coming out of halftime. The Beacons tallied seven first-half shots and held a 2-0 advantage in corners, while the Corsairs fired 10 shots and forced two saves from first-year goalkeeper Janiya Matier (North Easton, Mass.).
The breakthrough came in the 51st minute, just six minutes after the restart, when sophomore forward Sofia Schallmo (Norwood, Mass.) delivered a corner kick that found first-year defender Allie Kondash (Uncasville, Conn.) for her first collegiate goal — giving UMass Boston a 1-0 lead.
In the 66th minute, junior forward Alexis Williamson (Nassau, Bahamas) doubled the advantage with her second goal in as many matches, capping off another composed attacking sequence. The Corsairs pushed back with a flurry of shots in the following 10 minutes, but Matier and the Beacons' back line held firm to preserve the clean sheet.
Schallmo sealed the win in the 83rd minute, netting her 12th goal of the season to make it 3-0. Despite being outshot 21-16, the Beacons outpaced UMass Dartmouth 10-5 in shots on target, with Matier recording five saves in her fourth shutout of the season.
UMass Boston now turns its focus to the 2025 LEC Quarterfinals, where they'll face the third-seeded University of Southern Maine Huskies (8-10-2, 4-2-2 LEC) in Gorham, Maine, on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
