BOSTON, Mass. (Sept 1, 2026) —The UMass Boston Beacons (0-0-1, 0-0-0 LEC) opened the 2026 season at James Cotter Field with a scoreless draw against the Smith College Bears, outshooting them 17-3 but unable to break through despite a relentless late-game push.
UMass Boston controlled the run of play from the opening whistle, generating five corner kicks to Smith's one and creating the match's most dangerous moments — including a crossbar strike in the first half and two shots on goal in the final two minutes — only to be denied each time by Smith goalkeeper Blair Pasarkar, who finished with three saves to preserve the 0-0 result.

Camryn Trick (Sammamish, Wash.) made her collegiate debut and immediately announced herself, leading all players on both teams with four shots across 90 minutes on the back line. The freshman defender's relentless attacking presence set the tone for the Beacons' offensive volume and was one of the standout individual performances of the opener.

Smith's best chance came just before halftime when Jordyn Riley registered the Bears' only shot on goal in the 44th minute, but goalkeeper Janiya Morales Matier (North Easton, MA) made the save to keep the sheet clean heading into the break.

Devan Booth (Manchester, N.H.) pushed the tempo late, placing a low shot toward the center of the net in the 89th minute that Pasarkar turned away to keep the score level. Moments later, Lorelai Leddy (West Greenwich, R.I.) came off the bench and fired a low shot to the left side at 89:20 — the final attempt of the match — but Pasarkar was there again, sealing the draw.
