Box Score Gorham, Maine (Nov. 1, 2025) — The UMass Boston women's soccer team's 2025 campaign came to a close Saturday night, as the Beacons fell to No. 3 seed Southern Maine, 4–2, on the road in the Little East Conference Quarterfinals.
Sofia Schallmo opened the scoring 25 minutes into the match with her 13th goal of the season, giving the Beacons an early 1–0 advantage. The Huskies, however, responded quickly—equalizing less than 90 seconds later and then taking the lead just three minutes after that. Southern Maine added another goal late in the first half to carry a 3–1 advantage into the break.
UMass Boston battled back early in the second half, pulling within one when Lorelai Leddy found the back of the net off an assist from Alexis Williamson. Despite the push, the Huskies sealed the match with a late penalty kick goal to secure the 4–2 win.
In goal, Janiya Matier delivered a strong performance, recording 14 saves, including eight in the first half to keep the Beacons within striking distance. Offensively, UMass Boston made the most of limited chances—scoring twice on just four shots on goal and finishing with five total attempts in the match.
