Men's Track and Field Competes at Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational

FITCHBURG, Mass. – For the second time this week, it was graduate student Jimmy Cannon taking the top spot in a running event for UMass Boston Men's Track and Field, this time at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite on Saturday. Cannon was atop the leaderboard in the Men's 1,500 Meter Run, earning his second victory of the week with a time of 4:09.07 after winning the 800 Meter Run on Thursday at Regis College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman Rob Cannon added a new event to his resume, competing in the Men's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase, finishing just outside of the top 10 with an 11-place finish in a time of 11:25.26.

Scoring the other five points of the afternoon for the Beacons was the Men's 4x100 team with a fourth-place finish. The team was made up of freshmen Melvin Wiltshire, Frank Boua, Austin Hennebury, and Omosigho Asuen.

In the throws, UMass Boston also had three different athletes compete in the Men's Shot Put, five different athletes in the Men's Javelin Throw, and one in the Men's Discus Throw.
 
WHAT'S NEXT  
UMass Boston will take part in the Penman Relays at Southern New Hampshire University next Saturday.
