HOW IT HAPPENED
The LEC tournament shook out as expected, setting the table for the top two teams to face off in Weymouth on Saturday. The Beacons remained nearly untouchable in doubles matches with senior Meagan Carney and the freshman Watson teaming up for a sweep of their counterparts. Playing from the first doubles position throughout the final leg of the season, Chan and Zainab Patel remained undefeated as a duo, claiming an 8-2 victory. Elena Albano and Ayonne Stuppard finished off the doubles sweep for the Beacons with an 8-3 win in second position.

Needing a pair of victories in the singles portion, the Beacons did not have to wait long to claim their crown. Watson was the first to secure a win, sweeping her first set before playing to a decisive seventh point in the second to take the match. The clinching victory came from the racket of Chan who took down her opponent 6-2, 6-4.

After earning the match-clinching point in both of the Beacons' postseason victories, Chan was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, joining her teammate Albano who was the MOP of the 2022 tournament.
