Providence, RI (Oct. 25, 2025) --- The UMass Boston women's tennis team concluded its season as the Little East Conference (LEC) runner-up, reaching its fourth consecutive championship final. The Beacons, three-time defending champions, fell short of a fourth straight title with a 2–4 loss to Rhode Island College.
In doubles play, the Beacons started strong. At No. 3 doubles, Maya Rubinstein and Karina Khalsa cruised to a 6–0 win over Faith Owren and Addison Hadlock. The No. 2 pair, Tatiana Malone and Althea Bradley, battled hard but fell 6–7 (4–7) to Arianna De Thomas and Emilia Houwers. At No. 1 doubles, Zainab Patel and Sandra Watson rallied from a 1–4 deficit to secure a 7–6 (8–6) victory over Erica Botelho and Haylie Peacock, clinching the doubles point for the Beacons.
In singles action, Bradley fell 1–6, 2–6 to Houwers, tying the match. Patel dominated at No. 1 singles, defeating De Thomas 6–2, 6–0, giving the Beacons their second and final point. Malone dropped her match 1–6, 3–6 to Botelho, while Watson fell 3–6, 5–7 to Peacock. At No. 6 singles, Khalsa lost 5–7, 1–6 to Li Hsiu Hou, sealing the win for the Anchormen.
Despite the loss, the Beacons displayed grit and determination throughout the season, showcasing their competitiveness and teamwork as they closed another impressive campaign.
