Box Score BOSTON, Mass. - UMass Boston Women's Tennis defeated Western Connecticut State by a final score of 8-1 on Saturday afternoon to finish their Little East Conference schedule with a perfect 8-0 record for the second year in a row. The Beacons previously secured the conference's regular season championship as well as the top overall seed in the conference tournament.

The Beacons opened up their matchup with WestConn with a sweep of their doubles matches. Playing out of the second position, standout freshman

Meagan Carney made quick work of their opponents with an 8-1 win.
Elena Albano and
Ayonna Stuppard wrapped up a dominant regular season campaign, taking down their opponents 8-2 to improve to 9-3 on the year. The doubles sweep was finished off by the first-position duo of
Zainab Patel and
Lydia Chan who secured a narrow 8-7 victory over their counterparts from WestConn.
Playing from first position, Patel swept her opponent to finish her first regular season with a perfect 8-0 record. Patel was quickly joined in the winner's circle by her doubles partner Chan who secured the match-clinching point with a sweep of her opponent. Stuppard took care of business in her match and was joined by Carney who battled to a 10-3 win in the clinching third set of hers. The Beacons dropped the final point of the night, but not before Albano delivered her tenth straight singles victory to secure the 8-1 victory.

WHO'S NEXT
The Beacons will enter the LEC tournament as the top overall seed. Their opening round opponent has yet to be decided but will be traveling to the BC High Tennis Courts on Tuesday, October 17 for the match.
