Box Score DARTMOUTH, Mass. – UMass Boston Women's Tennis defeated UMass Dartmouth on the road Saturday afternoon, 8-1, clinching a first-round bye in the 2022 Little East Conference Tournament starting in just over a week. With the victory over the Corsairs (4-2 in the LEC) and an early season win against Bridgewater State (3-2 in the LEC) coupled by only two Little East matches remaining on the schedule, the Beacons are guaranteed to host the Little East Conference semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Juniors
Yana Semerly and
Lydia Chan continued their undefeated start to the season as #1 Doubles, taking down juniors Isabella Winter and Ailey Riddick, 8-5.
Senior
Lia Vassiliadis and junior
Meagan Carney won the #2 Doubles, 8-4, over senior Alanna O'Connell and sophomore Claire Yang in their first match of the season as a duo.
Sophomore duo
Elena Albano and
Ayonna Stuppard improved to 6-0 as doubles partners, taking down senior McKenzie Ferrari and Caroline Lemieux in dominant fashion, 8-1.
In the singles, Semerly dropped her first match of the season in the #1 Singles, losing in straight sets 4-6 and 0-6 to Winter, putting her singles record to 5-1 on the year.
In the #2 through #4 Singles, the Beacons swept through the Corsairs with ease as Chan took down Yang in a pair of 6-0 sets, Carney defeated O'Connell 7-5 and 6-0, and Albano was victorious over Riddick 6-1 and 6-0.
Capping off the afternoon with the #5 and #6 Singles, Stuppard won in two consecutive sets, 6-1, over freshman Bailey Clarke while Vassiliadis won 6-2 and 6-4 over Ferrari in the final match of the flights.

- Ayonna Stuppard remains undefeated this fall for the Beacons, boasting an 8-0 record in Singles play and 7-0 record in Doubles play
- Outside of one loss against Roger Williams, Lydia Chan has been spot on for UMass Boston, going 8-0 in the Doubles and 6-0 in Singles

The Beacons get ready to close out their 2022 regular season schedule with two more Little East Conference matches on the horizon. The first will come on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 PM against University of Southern Maine on the road before a Senior Day matchup with Rhode Island College next Saturday at 2:00 PM.
