Box Score HENNIKER, N.H.—New England College used a 14-0 run to start the fourth quarter and UMass Boston women's basketball couldn't complete the comeback in a 56-47 loss on Wednesday night at Bridges Gym.

THE BASICS
New England College 56, UMass Boston 47
(UMass Boston 0-2)
(New England College 1-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

After an incredibly tight first 30 minutes, New England College used a 14-0 run to turn a 35-34 deficit into a 48-43 lead with 6:40 to play. The Beacons cut the deficit to as few as five with under a minute to play, but that would be as close as UMass Boston would get.

Sophomore guard Jasharee Greene (Boston, Mass.) posted a career-high 20 points and 14 rebounds in her first collegiate double-double. Greene went 5-13 from the field, 10-13 from the free throw line and ripped down seven offensive rebounds, before fouling out with 3:02 to play.

Fellow sophomore Sunny Green (Brewster, Mass.) chipped in a career-high 13 points and five rebounds. Green hit both of the Beacons 3-pointers and finished 2-5 from distance.

Kerianna Farina (Arlington, Mass.) posted seven points, five rebounds and one steal and Meg Dixon (Hanover, Mass.) pulled down seven rebounds.

New England College's Alissa Corona paced the hosts with 19 points on 5-11 shooting from deep. Kayla Goldring tacked on 14 points, five rebounds and four assists and Brianna Pierreval notched 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

UMass Boston got off to a 6-0 start to begin the contest with Greene putting up a quick four points and Rayla Gonzalez (Boston, Mass.) adding a layup. The hosts quickly answered with six points of their own and took their first lead of the game at 11-8 on a Corona three with 3:26 to play.

The Beacons would immediately wrestle control back. Greene went on a 5-0 run of her own to take the lead back and Farina tacked on a layup to give the Beacons a 15-11 lead. UMass Boston led 17-13 after the first quarter thanks to 11 points from Greene.

After an early NEC basket, Green went on a personal 5-0 flurry to give UMass Boston their largest lead of the game (22-15). The hosts would chip away at the deficit for much of the quarter and the two teams would go into the break tied at 24-24 after a late Pilgrims layup.

The third quarter was more of the same, with the Beacons holding a slim 35-34 lead after 30 minutes thanks to two Green free throws with 2:04 left in the stanza.

New England College hit each of their first six shots to begin the fourth quarter, including a pair of threes, to open up a 48-35 lead.

Greene snapped the run with a layup and Green followed with a 3-pointer to get the Beacons back into striking distance (48-40 with 5:54 remaining).

With the Pilgrims leading by nine with two minutes left, Farina knocked down a jumper and followed with a layup to cut the deficit to 52-47. The Beacons got the ball back after two missed free throws, but NEC forced a turnover and knocked down all four of their free throws in the final 30 seconds.
