Spring Senior Beacon Spotlight: Chris Munro (Baseball)

BOSTON, Mass.—With the cancellation of all spring sports on Friday, March 13, we didn't get the chance to document the stories of our spring athletes as part of our ongoing Beacon Spotlight Series.

Over the next few months, we will talk to all of our spring seniors, to find out what they are doing away from school, talk about their careers and give themselves a chance to tell their stories.

Our eleventh senior we caught up with is baseball senior pitcher Chris Munro (Marshfield, Mass.). Chris discusses working security at the TD Garden during the pandemic, his favorite moments as a Beacons baseball player and his goal to become an enviromental policeman.

Chris Munro's Bio

Baseball Coach Brendan Eygabroat's Thoughts On Chris

"Chris has been a tremendous Beacon the last four years. He has been a great teammate, and a super dependable player. He has had a fantastic work ethic while at UMass Boston, and has improved each season on the mound. We recruited Chris hard out of high school. He is a high character person from a fantastic family. One of my former assistants coached him in summer ball and spoke to me numerous times about how we needed Chris in Beacon Blue.

Money was know for his tremendous 12/6 curveball, and the ability to locate a mid 80s fastball. He was a guy who liked the big moments. He has been a big part of our success the last three years. He has been a guy we have gone to in numerous big spots out of the bullpen and has been a real key to our success. Chris has been guy who has been a joy to coach. He has been so consistent on and off the field. I couldn't be happier to have coached him the last four years. I look forward to watching his career in law enforcement, and am extremely confident he is going to be very successful in that career."

TOP MOMENT

Chris described his favorite moment as the Beacons winning the 2017 Regional in Harwich. The Beacons defeated rival Babson College 11-8 in a back-and-forth final to earn their second trip to the College World Series.
