BOSTON, Mass.—With the cancellation of all spring sports on Friday, March 13, we didn't get the chance to document the stories of our spring athletes as part of our ongoing Beacon Spotlight Series.
Over the next few months, we will talk to all of our spring seniors, to find out what they are doing away from school, talk about their careers and give themselves a chance to tell their stories.
Our fourth senior we caught up with is baseball infielder Kyle Penney. The senior catcher talked about his how he's keeping busy, his internship working with UConn Football and the importance of being a good teammate.

Baseball Coach Brendan Eygabroat's Thoughts On Kyle
"Kyle has been a tremendous part of the Beacons baseball family the last four years. I think he has been a very good teammate during his tenure at UMass Boston. It was great to see him really respond this year to being a senior and taking on some leadership duties. He really worked his butt off to have a great senior year. We were seeing some great flashes with the bat and behind the plate in the preseason. He was very focused and ready to contribute at a high level as we went into Florida. The coaching staff was expecting big things from 33.
Off the field, Kyle really did an outstanding job in the classroom. He has been consistently one of our top performers in the classroom during his four years. I have a ton of respect for Kyle. He has been a guy who was behind some tremendous players at his position, but stuck with it and continued to work and get better each year. I have really enjoyed having Kyle in the program. I am excited to see what he does in the future. I am totally confident he will be very successful with his work ethic and intelligence."
