UMass Boston (4-4)
Farmingdale State (2-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

After another strong pitching performance, this time by Joey Rogers (Dighton, Mass.), the Beacons made quick work on their final day in the sunshine state.  Farmingdale's only run came in the top of the first inning but was quickly countered by the Beacons as they tacked on three runs in the bottom half of the same inning.

They then recorded six more runs through the middle innings, before scoring their final run of the contest in the eighth inning to cruise to the non-conference victory.

Rogers allowed the lone run on four hits through four complete innings of work.  He also had two strikeouts.  Tylor Arruda (New Bedford, Mass.) collected the win, the first of the year after going two complete innings.  In total the Beacons bullpen allowed just three hits over five complete innings and had six strikeouts respectively.

Anthony Cecere (Wakefield, Mass.) and Kyle Boudrias (Medford, Mass.) each had a double in the win for the Beacons, with Cecere also driving in a pair of runs.  The Beacons dominated the base paths as they went a perfect 9-for-9 on stolen base attempts.

Cecere and Ryan McCormick (Cumberland, R.I.) each went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and the two RBI.  Eddie Riley (Quincy, Mass.) also accounted for two of the Beacons runs as he finished 2-for-5.  Nick Herzog (Riverhead, N.Y.) was the fourth Beacon to record multiple hits as the senior outfield went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and a run scored.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • All-time the Beacons are now 2-0 against Farmingdale State
  • Friday's contest marked the first time that the Beacons faced each other since the 2015 season when they earned a 9-5 win in Florida
  • The Beacons will return to Boston outscoring their opponents 20-2, after an up-and-down spring trip, which was amongst the most difficult in all of Division 3 baseball.

WHO'S NEXT

The Beacons will host Roger Williams University on Tuesday at 6 pm at Monan Park.
