PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Despite another hard fought effort women's tennis could not prevail in singles play as Plymouth State University earned a 7-2 win over the Beacons Saturday afternoon at the Holderness School in Little East Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Following an 8-3 win by Meaghan Moriarty (Norton, Mass.) and Chloe Gates (Plymouth, Mass.) which made it 2-1 through doubles play, the Panthers won five straight singles matches to clinch the conference victory. The lone Beacon to pullout a conference win was Leah Bosco (Greenfield, Mass.) at sixth singles. Bosco defeated Brie Hada 2-6, 6-4, 10-7.
The Beacons nearly took a 2-1 lead into singles play with Katie Gauthier (West Boylston, Mass.) and Valeria Tueme (Bonney Lake, Wash.) teaming up for a tightly contest first doubles match. The duo was narrowly defeated by PSU's Sage Winter and Maggie McCarthy by the final of 8-5.
Baila Mir (Somerset, Mass.) and Megan Wheeler also played a tight match at fifth singles. Wheeler managed to pullout the win in the super tiebreaker by the final of 6-3, 2-6, 10-5.
