HOW IT HAPPENED

Rogers improved to 2-0 on the year after holding the Cardinals scoreless through the first six innings.  The sophomore registered five strikeouts, and allowed seven hits and just two walks.

The Beacons offense which was quiet through the first three innings, took advantage of a pair of St. John Fisher errors in the fourth.  UMB would tack on three runs in the inning, before putting up two more in the sixth.  They completed the victory in the eighth with two more runs in a rematch of the 2016 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament game.

Eddie Riley (Quincy, Mass.) recorded his first multi-extra base hit game of the season as he registered a pair of doubles.  Dave Murphy (Plymouth, Mass.) finished 3-for-5 at the plate and had one RBI.  Charlie Huegi (Sandy Hook, Conn.) also had a pair of hits and had an RBI and a run scored.

Anthony Brophy was handed the loss for the Cardinals after surrendering three runs, all unearned, on five hits.  Out of the pen Josh Gerson and Joe Maguire kept the Cardinals off the board, as the duo did not allow a hit and just one walk over the final three innings.
