HOW IT HAPPENED

A year after falling to the Rams 7-2 during the opening weekend of the season, all six Beacons went 2-0, to help the Beacons earn their revenge.

UMass Boston easily took all three doubles matches to leap out to a 3-0 lead and then cruised to wins at first and fifth singles to capture the match win. After pushing their lead to 7-0, UMass Boston won a pair of third-set super tiebreakers, to earn the shutout victory.

Senior Martina Daelli (Florence, Italy) had a triumphant return to the lineup, after not playing the past two seasons. She paired up with Valeria Tueme (Bonney Lake, Wash.) for an 8-4 win at second doubles and then earned a 6-2, 2-6, 10-6 super tiebreaker win at second singles.

Kathleen Conroy (Quincy, Mass.) and Meghan Erickson (Hubbardston, Mass.) opened the match with a huge 8-0 win at third doubles.

Kristy Garcia (Miami, Fla.) and Katie Gauthier (West Boylston, Mass.) pushed the lead out to 2-0, as they earned an 8-4 victory at first doubles.

Erickson kept the momentum going into singles play, as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Julia Marino at fifth singles.

Garcia captured the all-important fifth point at first singles. The Beacons senior captured a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kayla Reidy.

UMass Boston made it 6-0 moments later, when Gauthier knocked off Carolann LaMonica 6-3, 6-4 at fourth-flight singles.

Tueme claimed the final two-set victory of the day at sixth singles, when the sophomore earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Cameren Jackson.

In the final match of the day, Conroy raced back from a set down, to earn a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 win over Celine Zollinger at third singles.
