BOSTON, Mass. – Four different players recorded 10 or more points as women's basketball downed Rhode Island College by the final of 67-45 Saturday afternoon in the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium in a Little East Conference match-up.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Led by Grace Geary's (Falmouth, Mass.) team-high 13 points, the Beacons picked-up a crucial conference win over the Anchorwomen. From the field, the junior guard, was 3-for-7 from the field, with one 3-pointer, and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the line.
Taje Burston (Springfield, Mass.) led the starting five with 12 points, while fellow starters Raven Kelsey (Boston, Mass.) and Chantel Jordan (Brockton, Mass.) each recorded 10 in the victory.
Despite shooting just 32.8% from the field as a team, the Beacons managed to use a strong fourth quarter to distance themselves from RIC.
Defensively, the Beacons also had one of their best showings as they limited Rhode Island to just eight points in the second quarter, and 10 in the third.
Also playing a huge part in the victory was the Beacons bench as they combined for 25 points. UMass Boston was never really tested in Saturday's contest, as they held as much as a 29-point lead over the final two quarters.
Victoria Demers led Rhode Island College with 17 points in the loss, conference leader in points per game (17.8 ppg) Alex Moore was held to just five in the conference loss.
BY THE NUMBERS
- With the win UMass Boston has now won five straight games over the Anchorwomen
- The Beacons outrebounded RIC 52-31, and held 16-9 advantage in assists
- Kelsey also finished the win with nine rebounds, while Katie Mathieu (Coventry, Conn.) produced a strong eight points and eight rebounds
- With the win the Beacons now sit tied for second in the conference standings
