CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—UMass Boston women's tennis junior Kristy Garcia (Miami, Fla.) fell in the first round of the ITA/New England Regional Women's Tournament on Friday morning.

The Beacons' number one singles player fell 6-0, 6-0 to eight-seeded Vickie Ip of Amherst College. Ip is ranked 30^th in the nation and played number two singles for Amherst, who made it all the way to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2015.

Garcia and the Beacons will return to action on Saturday, when the Beacons host Little East Conference foe Plymouth State University.
