HOW IT HAPPENED
Rhode got on the board in the top of the first inning, but the Beacons did manage to answer back in the third inning with Josh Lopez driving in the tying run. Unfortunately, Rhodes would regain control of the lead in the top half of the fourth to jump out to a 5-1 lead. They then made it a five-run game in the fifth, before sealing the victory in the ninth with three more runs.
The Beacons did not go down without a fight however, as they scored a pair of runs in the bottom half of the final inning. Charlie Huegi (Sandy Hook, Conn.) recorded the first Beacons homer of the season, a two run shot which scored Fernando Burgos.
On the hill Bryan Kaufman (Framingdale, N.Y.) was handed the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits in 3.2 innings of work. Adam Putnam earned the win for Rhodes, after going six complete innings in which he allowed just one run on four hits, while also striking out three.
