HOW IT HAPPENED
After 90 minutes of deadlock, O'Grady scored her third game-winning goal of the season to keep UMass Boston in a three-way tie with Keene State College and Eastern Connecticut State University at the top of the LEC standings.
The freshman forward fought off a defender on a 50-50 ball 25 yards out and rushed towards the top of the box, from there, she held off a defender and her shot from the top of the 18-yard box fell just below the outstretched arms of Marissa Temple. O'Grady has now scored four of the Beacons six goals and accounted for all three game-winning goals.
Freshman goalie Alyssa Fugiel (Easthampton, Mass.) earned her third shutout win of the year, as she posted a season-low five stops to improve to 3-4 on the season.
The Beacons nearly earned the win in regulation, but O'Grady had two shots go just wide in the final four minutes and senior Nicole McMinamin (Acworth, Ga.) hit the post at the 87:08 mark. UMass Boston piled on their chances over the final 15 minutes overall, as they forced Temple to make five of her nine saves in the final 15 minutes of regulations.
Freshman Kate Leavitt (Plymouth, Mass.) almost broke open the scoring just before halftime, but her rocket of a shot was deflected away to keep the game scoreless.
