HOLDERNESS, N.H. – Defending Little East Conference championship Plymouth State University raced out to a 5-0 lead to snap UMass Boston women's tennis' two-match losing streak Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 decision at the Holderness School Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Plymouth State's Zara and Sunny Jakubas combined for three points, and the host Panthers won each of the first five deciding points to snap a four-match losing streak.
The Panthers would take 8-2 wins at first and third doubles, while in second doubles Jakubas and Rachel Gustafson earned an 8-5 victory over Kelsey Shea (West Bridgewater, Mass.) and Vicky Woytowicz (Springfield, Mass.).
In singles play, UMass got their first point of the afternoon with a win by Nurcin Celebi (Istanbul Turkey) in the form of a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Kelley Corson. Woytowicz would have to grind out the second point of the match for UMass, but she managed to hang tough and earned a 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (11-9) victory over Irene Ireme.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Plymouth State has now won the last two meetings with the Beacons, and hold a 14-1 record all-time
- The Beacons notched their first-ever win over the Panthers on October 19, 2013 in the form of a 6-3 win at Plymouth State
