HUMACAO, Puerto Rico--In the Beacons' final match of their Puerto Rico trip, UMass Boston women's tennis (3-13) fell 9-0 to the University of Sioux-Falls (6-5) Thursday morning at the Palmas Athletic Club.
The Beacons reverted to their normal lineups and proved to be competitive at number one and two doubles, but struggled through singles play for a fourth-straight day.
In doubles action, Martina Daelli (Florence, Italy) and Kristy Garcia (Miami, Fla.) fell 8-4 at number one singles to their Cougars opponents. The Beacons' second doubles pair of Logan Smith (Southwich, Mass.) and Kelsey Shea (West Bridgewater, Mass.) won three games of their own, in an 8-3 loss.
Garcia would also play the closest singles match, as she fell 6-3, 6-4 to Sioux-Falls' Joey Bosch at number one singles.
Nurcin Celebi (Istanbul, Turkey) and Kathleen Conroy (Quincy, Mass.) each won three combined games at number five and number six singles.
UMass Boston will return to action on Sunday April 12 when they will host the Beacons Invitational at the Boston College High School.
