College of Wooster Downs Baseball, 11-6

Box Score

PORT CHARLOTEE, Fla. – A six-run second inning proved to be all the College of Wooster needed as they ended baseball's two-game win-streak following a 11-6 decision Tuesday afternoon at the North Charlotte Regional Park.

Following the six-run second, the Fighting Scots would tack on another run in the third, and two more in the fifth and seventh innings to improve to 8-1 on the year.  For the Beacons they dropped to 2-4 overall, with five games remaining in their 2015 spring trip.

Wooster combined for 16 hits in Tuesday's contest, while Michael Houdek picked-up his second win of the year after allowing five runs (two earned) on six hits, over six complete innings of work.  Jamie Lackner proved to be the Fighting Scots big bat, as he went 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored.

For the Beacons they managed to put-up a pair of runs in the third, before tacking on five in the seventh inning to make it just a four-run game at the time.  Luke Nagle (Pembroke, Mass.) crushed his second home run in the last two games to finish the afternoon with a 1-for-3 showing and two runs scored.

Daniel Matoni (Northbridge, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's loss, and continues to be one of the Beacons top hitters with his .385 average.  Nagle continues to lead the Beacons with an impressive .556 average having recorded 10 hits in 18 at-bats with two of those hits going for home runs.

The loss in Tuesday's contest went to freshman righty Ken Drew (Plymouth, Mass.), who allowed six runs (two earned) on seven hits in the first two innings.  Steven Roche (Worcester, Mass.) would go the next 4.2 innings for the Beacons, while Steve Witkowski (Pittsfield, Mass.) closed out the afternoon for the Beacons.

Baseball returns to action tomorrow when they face SUNY New Paltz at 3:30 p.m. at North Charlotte Regional Park.
