HOW IT HAPPENED

After earning a 2-2 comeback road draw on Saturday at Keene State, UMass Boston earned their second-straight result, with a hard-fought 0-0 tie at Swenson Field.

The Beacons nearly put the game away with 6:36 left in the second overtime, but their goal was ruled offsides. UMass Boston added another great chance in the waning minutes, but Jaclyn O'Grady's (Somers, Conn.) shot was tipped wide by a diving Courtney Banzi, to keep the game scoreless.

Fugiel made a game-saving stop of her own late in regulation, as the freshman made a full-extension sprawling save in the 79th minute, to deny Bridgewater State's Kellsie Mitchell who was in on a breakaway.

Fugiel's 12 saves are tied for her second most this season and mark the third-straight game the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week has stopped at least 10 shots.

Banzi and Kristin Reardon split time in net for the Corsairs, with the pair combining for 11 saves over 110 minutes.

O'Grady led all players with six total shots, while senior midfielder Elisa Brooks (San Diego, Calif.) finished with a team-high three shots on goal.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Both teams finished with 22 total shots and UMass Boston held a 12-11 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Bears owned a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
  • Four different Beacons finished with at least two shots on goal, with Carly Robinson (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Natasha Stibor (San Francisco, Calif.) joining Brooks and O'Grady in that group.
  • With the tie, UMass Boston stayed unbeaten against their intra-state rivals. The Beacons are now 4-0-1 in a series that dates back to 2010.
  • UMass Boston's back-to-back ties marks the first time in program history the Beacons have recorded two draws in a row.

WHO'S NEXT

UMass Boston will close out the regular season Saturday at 2:30 p.m., when the Beacons travel to Plymouth State University for a Little East Conference contest.
