Box Score AMHERST, Mass. – Despite a 13 kill performance by freshman Eileen Shi (San Francisco, Calif.) volleyball was unable to take down regionally-ranked Amherst College as they were handed a 3-1 loss Saturday afternoon at LeFrak Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Leading the way for Amherst College was Nicole Gould who scored 12 kills, with Maggie Danner finishing right behind her with 11 kills. Amherst grabbed an early 2-0 victory with a 25-17 win in the first set, and a 25-13 win in the second.
The Beacons did rally in the third to edge out Amherst with a 26-24 victory. UMass Boston would tie the set at 24-24 with a kill by Shi, before Bri Sousa (Swansea, Mass.) made it 25-24 on a huge kill. UMass Boston would earn the two-point victory on a service error by Kelci Keeno.
In the fourth set, the two teams would battle back-and-forth, but with a seven point run by Amherst the host Lord Jeffs secured the 25-18 decision and the match.
Shi, was the lone Beacon to record 10 or more kills in Saturday's non-conference match. Rachel Maslach (Berlin Center, Ohio) posted a season-high 18 assists, while Pepper Baker (Tallahassee, Fla.) finished with 12. Elizabeth Glavan (Edina, Minn.) recorded 17 digs, while Shi finished with 10 digs to earn her seventh double-double. At the net Julia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) finished with one solo block and five block assists.
Nicole Carter finished with 35 assists to lead the Lord Jeffs offense, which hit .213 in the match. Katie Warshaw tallied 14 digs, followed by Hayes Honea with 13.
