BOSTON, Mass. (July 23, 2026) — For the fourth consecutive season, the UMass Boston volleyball team has been awarded the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for its continued commitment to academic excellence.

The AVCA Team Academic Award is given to member teams that maintain a cumulative 3.30 team GPA on a 4.0 scale throughout the previous academic year.

The Beacons were one of three Little East Conference teams recognized this summer, joining the University of Southern Maine and Plymouth State.

The Beacons were also awarded the LEC Team Academic Award for the fourth consecutive season, dating back to 2022, when the honor was first earned in the summer of 2023. The streak continues to underline the commitment head coach Stacy Cheney has instilled in her program.
